North America Dema Naa, Chief Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim, has disclosed that Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) was the key campaign message most Ghanaians bought in to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just-ended December polls. The traditional leader said that many people voted for the former Ghanaian leader because he promised to launch ORAL to recover all stolen state assets from people who used their positions to rob the state.

In a signed statement, a congratulatory message to President-elect John Mahama, Dema Naa Bashar urged him not to relent on his promise.

He said it is important for the incoming government to trigger all legal means to recover all the loot including monies, properties and other valuable assets of the state and also prosecute all perpetrators of such crimes. Chief Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim expressed the belief that the President-elect would live up to the massive expectations of the Ghanaian public.

Dema Naa who is one of the traditional leaders of the Dagbon community in North America also urged Mr Mahama to prioritise economic growth, good governance and infrastructure development as well as youth development.

“As you prepare to take over the mantle of leadership of the country, I urge you, Mr President, to prioritize policies that promote economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction. Your government must also ensure transparency, accountability and the rule of law in all aspects of governance and invest in the Ghanaian youth through the skills training and entrepreneurship training you promised the youth” Dema Naa Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim said.

He also appealed to Mr Mahama to invest in critical infrastructure and foster a sense of national unity.

A release signed by the spokesperson for the incoming administration transition team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced a five-member ORAL team with a task to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, heads the team as Chairman.

The rest are Daniel Domelovo-Former Auditor-General, COP(Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, Martin Kpebu -Private Legal Practitioner and Mr Raymond Archer-Investigative Journalist.
