Executive Director

Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim is the visionary founder of the organization and serves as both a dedicated Board Member and the North America Dema Naa, a respected traditional title recognizing his leadership within the diaspora community. He holds a BSc in Public Health and is a seasoned entrepreneur and real estate investor with business interests in Ghana and the United States.

Basha brings a powerful blend of cultural leadership, global perspective, and strategic vision to the NGO. His background in public health strengthens the organization’s focus on community wellness, while his business expertise enhances sustainability and growth.

He founded the NGO to promote peacebuilding, youth and women’s empowerment, environmental protection, and the fight against drug and substance abuse. As North America Dema Naa, he bridges traditional values with modern development strategies, inspiring positive change across communities in Ghana and the diaspora.

Mohammed Abdul Fatawu

Director of Operations & Administrative Assistant

Mohammed Abdul Fatawu is a dedicated communications professional and emerging leader with a strong commitment to organizational excellence and community development. In his capacity as Director of Operations and Administrative Assistant at the North America DemaNaa Peace International (NADPI), he oversees key administrative functions, supports strategic initiatives, and ensures effective coordination across programs that promote peace and social progress.

He currently serves as President of the Communication Students’ Association of Ghana (University for Development Studies – UDS) and previously held the position of President of the Journalism Students’ Association of Ghana (UDS Chapter). In addition, he is a practicing media personality with Zaa Multimedia in Tamale, where he advances responsible journalism and public engagement.

Mohammed also brings additional talent in advocacy and community engagement through entertainment, notably as the host of “The Spotlight”, a weekly program aired every Saturday night that promotes youth voices, creativity, and positive social change.

Through his blend of communication expertise, administrative acumen, and passion for peacebuilding, Mohammed Abdul Fatawu continues to contribute meaningfully to NADPI’s mission of fostering peace, empowerment, and sustainable development.

Abdul-Wadud Sumaila

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Abdul-Wadud Sumaila is a dedicated Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with a passion for using technology to advance social impact, sustainability, and inclusive development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University for Development Studies (UDS), equipping him with a strong foundation in systems design, software engineering, and digital transformation.

With extensive experience in web development, systems architecture, and IT consulting, Abdul-Wadud leads the organization’s technology strategy, ensuring that digital tools and systems effectively support program delivery, data management, and operational efficiency.

He is committed to harnessing innovation to strengthen development outcomes — from improving project monitoring and evaluation systems to enhancing communication, knowledge sharing, and transparency within nonprofit operations.

Through his leadership, Abdul-Wadud champions the responsible use of technology to empower communities, amplify impact, and create sustainable pathways for growth.

Dr. Bashiru Haruna, PhD

Board Member - Research Scientist (Agricultural and Development Economist), CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute

Dr. Bashiru Haruna brings a wealth of global expertise and analytical depth to the Board of North American Peace International (NADPI). With academic training spanning three continents—holding a BSc from Kumasi, Ghana; an MS from Columbus, USA; and a PhD from Giessen, Germany—Dr. Haruna exemplifies the kind of global perspective essential to advancing NADPI’s peace-building and development-oriented mission.

As a Research Scientist at the CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute in Ghana, Dr. Haruna specializes in agricultural and development economics, with core expertise in technology adoption studies, program evaluation, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E). His work supports evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development strategies across Africa.

Dr. Haruna’s extensive experience in evaluating complex development programs and his keen understanding of socio-economic systems position him as a valuable asset in shaping NADPI’s strategies for conflict resolution, poverty alleviation, and inclusive growth. His contributions help ensure that the organization’s interventions are grounded in data, culturally responsive, and impactful at the grassroots level.

Dr. Salisu Mustapha, PhD

Board Member –Development Economist | Researcher | Policy Advisor

Dr. Salisu Mustapha is a seasoned development economist and researcher with nearly two decades of experience driving sustainable development, community empowerment, and policy reform across Ghana. As a Board Member of North American Peace International (NADPI), he brings a deep commitment to social equity, grassroots development, and inclusive governance.

Dr. Mustapha holds a PhD in Applied Agricultural Economics and Policy from the University of Ghana, an MPhil in Agricultural Economics, and a BA from the University for Development Studies. His academic and professional journey spans both academia and the development sector, where he has designed, implemented, and evaluated programs that have transformed communities and livelihoods.

His work has led to significant improvements in rural education infrastructure, women’s economic empowerment, environmental conservation, and local governance accountability. Dr. Mustapha’s approach is grounded in data-driven decision-making and participatory development, aligning seamlessly with NADPI’s mission to promote peace, social justice, and sustainable futures.

At NADPI, Dr. Mustapha contributes his expertise to shaping impactful, evidence-based programs that support vulnerable populations, enhance resilience, and build cohesive communities.

Martina Bugri

Board Member

Martina Bugri is more than a journalist — she is a voice for the voiceless, a defender of truth, and a trailblazer for women and marginalized communities across Ghana. With over two decades of fearless reporting and transformative advocacy, Martina brings a rare blend of media excellence, grassroots insight, and unwavering commitment to justice to her role as a Board Member of North American Peace International (NADPI).

As the Northern Regional Correspondent for Ghana’s premier media house, the Multimedia Group (Joy FM, JoyNews, MyJoyOnline), Martina has consistently held power to account and spotlighted critical development and human rights issues. She is widely respected for her integrity, clarity of voice, and her deep connection to the people and communities she reports on.

Martina holds an MPhil in Innovation Communication and a BA in Integrated Community Development from the University for Development Studies, along with a Diploma in Journalism from Jayee University College. But it is her impact — not just her education — that defines her.

She has been internationally recognized for her work and leadership:
  • Keynote Speaker (2023) – Black History Celebration (USA), addressing the role of Northern Ghanaian women in modern society.
  • US State Department Nominee (2017) – Participated in a high-level media and counterterrorism exchange program.
  • Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists Nominee (2014) – Studied extractive industry governance and media accountability in Tanzania.
Martina’s commitment to service goes beyond the newsroom. She has served in influential leadership roles, including:
  • Board Member, NORSAAC – Driving gender justice and youth empowerment.
  • Board Member, Divine Media College – Shaping the next generation of media professionals.
  • President, Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Journalists Association (Northern Region) – Advocating for inclusive rural development.

Sahadatu Mohammed

Board Member

Sahadatu Mohammed is a trailblazing entrepreneur and social impact leader whose work bridges business excellence with deep community engagement. As the Founder and CEO of Shallott Royal Services, she has built a trusted brand known for professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to empowering others—especially women and youth.

Now serving as a Board Member of North America DemaNaa Peace International (NADPI), Sahadatu brings her passion for sustainable development, women’s leadership, and grassroots empowerment to the global stage. Her entrepreneurial journey is marked not only by business success but also by a consistent drive to uplift underserved communities and promote dignity through opportunity.

Through Shallott Royal Services, she has created meaningful jobs, mentored young women, and championed local enterprise development. Her leadership style is hands-on and heart-led, with a focus on transforming lives through skills training, employment, and inclusive growth.

As a board member, Sahadatu contributes a wealth of practical insight into community dynamics, enterprise development, and gender equity. Her presence strengthens NADPI’s mission to build peaceful, just, and economically empowered societies, especially in underserved and conflict-prone areas.

Dr. Bernard John Tiika

Board Member

Dr. Bernard John Tiika is a Lecturer in the Department of Public and Health Services Administration at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).

His research focuses on e-governance, digital inclusion, and artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, with a particular interest in how digital technologies can enhance public service delivery and promote equitable access to opportunities in rural communities.

As a Board Member of North America DemaNaa Peace International (NADPI), Dr. Tiika brings his expertise in digital governance, data ethics, and sustainable development to support the organization’s mission of promoting peace, social inclusion, and community empowerment. His work continues to champion the role of digital innovation in driving equitable and sustainable progress across Ghana and beyond.

Dr(Med) Shafawu Mustapha Baba

Board Member

Dr. (Med) Shafawu Mustapha Baba is a compassionate and dedicated medical doctor whose career blends clinical excellence with a deep commitment to social responsibility. With extensive experience in patient care and community health, she has become a strong advocate for equitable healthcare access and holistic well-being.

As a Board Member of North America DemaNaa Peace International, Dr. Baba brings her medical expertise and passion for humanitarian service to the organization’s mission of fostering peace, development, and sustainable community transformation. Her leadership reflects a lifelong dedication to improving lives—especially among marginalized and underserved populations—through advocacy, health education, and impactful community engagement.
